Mishap Sharing for Month of March 2010
Salam and Greetings to JPTians,
Recently, there were school holidays that I brought my whole family for vacationing at Kuala Lumpur among others visiting KLCC PetroSains. On the trip home from Kuala Lumpur to Johor, that day was heavily raining. I exited to Ayer Keroh and my car skidded at the exit bend, hence slamming onto the road side bar protectors on the left. The MPV rotated 360 degree around and slammed to the bar protectors on the right side of the road.
Though this is the first time family-trip accident, we remained calm in the MPV prior going out of the car. Luckily, we were all safe and no vehicle was at theback of us. We were fortunate enough because the MPV did not roll-over. Alhamdulillah...
Lesson Learned for the Mishap;
1) When you drive exitting or entering a PLUS highway at the turning bend, it is a smarter driving technique if you shift to lower gear rather that applying breaks to slow-down a bit your vehicle. Applying break during maneuvering a bend will cause a litte "drifting" effect at the back of your car.
2) Just after an accident, remain calm and avoid any panic situation. Get-out of the car (if you're still OK) and manage the in-coming traffic; else even worst accident can happen.
3) It is even handy and safer if you have a safety torch light that illuminates and/or blinks to signal danger for traffic.
4) Lodge a police report at the traffic police station within 24 hours.
5) Take photos of your vehicle and the accident site if possible.
6) Be particularly careful when driving during raining time, as water spots/pools and water streams could be formed anywhere on the road surface.
7) If your car tyre's thread is thinning-out; changing new tyres worths cheaper than repairing your damaged vehicle. Driving during raining requires thicker tyre's thread in comparison to sunny driving. So, during monsoon season it is wiser to change to new tyres if your tyres are worn-out.
8) When handling a road bend, just let the car moves on its natural momentum means neither speed-up nor applying brakes.
That would be ALL for the sharing of March month. Hope we all can benefit from the sharing. Road safety to ALL. DrRos.
